Slamology 2023 – 20th Anniversary!

This past weekend we went to the biggest Bass Competition in the entire world. Me, DaddyBear, and the Geeklings went to the 20th Annual Slamology at the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park. We have never seen so many car enthusiasts in one area.

After a three-hour drive, we arrived at Slamology. You could feel the rumble from the Bass and car engines from inside the raceway park. We immediately knew we were in for an amazing time. Plus, this was the first time the Geeklings have ever been to a Bass Competition. We figured, go big or go home.

We bought our tickets at the front gate. Cash Only, but they had an ATM at the entrance just in case you didn’t carry cash. The first thing we seen as we walked through the gate, the first thing we saw was the Davis Bros. Big Rig Round Up – Semi Show.  We were impressed by several of the beautiful Semis. Each one of the Semis had their own personality. There was also one lonely Monster Truck. Our favorite was the Bone Shaker Jet Truck. (We didn’t get pictures, unfortunately.) However, it was just for show and didn’t get the privilege of seeing it use the rocket.

We continue walking further into this glorious automotive and music festival. The closer we walked towards the center of Slamology, the louder it became. (We highly recommend bringing ear protection for smaller children and people with sensitive ears.) This event was humongous. No wonder this was a two-day event. They had something for everyone of all ages.

This year we came as spectators. The goal this year was to enjoy our first time experiencing Slamology. Not to mention, we wanted to show the Geeklings how awesome the Bass community really is. Besides, the lines to compete were the longest line we have ever seen at any bass competition. Everybody and anybody that wants to be the best of the best was in that line. The dedication this hobby creates within you is something absolutely amazing.

Next up, was the vendors. There were over 50 venders. These were car audio, and much more, businesses from around the country. We saw so many. It took several walk throughs to see every one of them. Vender tents were at every turn. If you needed bass, this was the place to be. You would have the best quality within fingertip reach. The demos we saw and felt were magnificent. Slamology gives a whole other meaning to music festivals.

Of course, we had to make sure we visited our favorites. The first one we made sure to visit before the other venders was JS Alternators. This was the first time we met DaddyBear’s sponsor. We finally met Kris Coker and Kristen Smith for the first time. They are really good people and have excellent quality alternators. They even come in your favorite color! Down 4 Sound was the other one we visited. We not only got to shake Johnathan Price’s hand, but we got some new quality door speakers for our Tahoe. It was an amazing experience. Those are just to name a couple that we visited.

One of our favorite things we got to attend, was the Car Contests and Car Show held at the Grandstand. We sat together at the top of the stands in the shade. It was a great option to take a break from the sun and walking around. First was the 2-Step Exhaust Competiton. Those cars can really pop off. The next show was the Full Til DEMO. You have never heard anything like it. It is extremely loud and clear quality. Standing next to these cars can cause some hearing loss for a second, or two! It took loud to a whole other meaning. Lastly, the Hydraulic show. Hydraulics is one of the Geeklings favorite thing to watch. They find it fascinating to watch cars bounce and dance. Our favorite was the Slimer truck. We are nerds at heart.

The food choices were unlimited. Slamology had everything from Chinese egg rolls to funnel cakes. They had food for just about any craving. For the adults enjoying Slamology, there were multiple places throughout the festival to wet your whistle. Making the right choice for our stomachs was not an easy decision.

There was a Kid Zone tent next to the main stage for those with children. (They really did think of everyone.) We walked to the tent to cool off for a bit in the shade. They had face painting, lawn Jenga, bubbles, and even giant floats to place with. We, as parents, thank you for including the kids!

All around, we give Slamology a 5-Star Rating. We plan to make Slamology an annual tradition for our family. Next year, we are making plans to experience the festival without children.  We recommend everyone should attend at least once, maybe more, in their life.
